Rounding out our Valentine’s celebration of Tea Gang “tea dates” with this Rooibos infusion called “Rooibos Spicy Delight.” This time it’s a tale from ancient China, even though Rooibos is from South Africa. Mr. Dragon (aka the Emperor of China) teapot got together with Ms. Phoenix (aka the Empress of China) teacup to explore what to them is an exotic product from a far-off land (everything is relative). Time to see how it went (gee, this is sorta like that old TV show you humans had back in the ‘70s called “The Dating Game” …TOOOT!).
A word of caution: again, there is no tea (Camellia sinensis) in this. It does contain Rooibos, ginger, green cardamom, and black cardamom. Well, that sounds good…maybe. Mr. Dragon was game to give it a try.
My humans heated water to boiling, put some of the dry mix (strong cardamom aroma dominated) into Mr. Dragon, and let him steep everything together for about 3.5 minutes. Then he poured some into Ms. Phoenix for my humans to try. They got ginger and cardamom dominating with only a hint of that underlying Rooibos flavor that they swear is just like pencil shavings (don’t ask me how they would know that since I’ve never steeped up any pencil shavings for them).
No matter what, Mr. Dragon said that he and Ms. Phoenix had a great “tea date” and would be doing it again sometime in an awesomely regal manner! Lots of great teas and herbals out there waiting to be explored. TOOOT!
